Hi Molly

I find that NOT checking email late at night is sometimes harder to do. Sometimes I need to learn to switch off.

But I can understand that when you work with US based companies, one of the best things you can do to free your coming day up is to not have a huge inventory of things waiting for you when you get in.

So I can appreciate where you are coming from.

Best wishes

Working for a Software Company in their support department in Australia and them having 95% development in the US, I find checking email late at night (midnight or later) is very helpful as if they need clarification on a point that I might have emailed them, checking it late means I might save a day answering their email at night (if that makes sense????).

Another point, Did MS really invent Webservices? I did a google search on it, and there was no indication of that (and you think MS would be pushing it very hard if they did).

My best tip is that I like to try and slot my tasks (when I have flexibility) into the times of day when I am best ready to do them. For example, I need something interesting first thing in the morning to get the juices going. After lunch, I need something that is self-stimulating, like talking on the phne over trying to read something. At the end of the day, I'm looking to close all the loops and wrap things up so I can relax and recreate and sleep on my own time. It often doesn't work that way, but when I can, I find that makes me more productive.

thanks "orangeandbrown". Good point! I guess I was thinking about making someone more productive from an employer's point of view, not from the employees'! What is your best productivity tip?

Love the show. Listened to this episode this morning, and just wanted to make a comment. There was a reference made to using technology to get people to check their email at 10:30 at night. I certainly do that. However, isn't productivity really about getting more out of the time we're already putting in, rather than just adding more time on. I want to be more productive so I don't have to work at 10 at night...unless, of course, in a couple of minutes I can do something to prevent being a bottleneck.

Just a thought. Great show.
