Migrating contacts from Outlook to Thunderbird

Has anyone else tried migrating their contacts from Microsoft Outlook into Thunderbird? I’ve tried it a number of times lately with less than satisfactory results. I’ve exported them out of Outlook as both a CSV and TAB and neither imports into Thunderbird seamlessly.
Any suggestions?

Merlin Mann from 43 Folders has a new trick for helping you make progress on those tasks you are procrastinating on - he calls it “(10+2)*5”. Like much of Merlin’s stuff, it is simple, practical and sounds effective. I’m going to use it to conquer some of the hairiest things in my list.
